Kahala Drain joined the National Family Support Network in 2024 with extensive experience in the public service sector.  She previously served as the Administrative Coordinator for the San Francisco Children and Families Commission (First 5 San Francisco) for over 20 years. In that role, she provided C-Level administrative support to the Executive Director, Commission, and staff in directing resources to programs and services designed to prepare children for early Kindergarten and lifetime success, including the Network of 26 Family Resource Centers.


In her prior role as a Policy and Planning Administrator at the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth, and Their Families, she provided in-kind administrative support that was critical to the launch of the San Francisco Family Support Network in 2004.

She has been a Parent Leader at her daughter's alma mater, Charles Armstrong School in Belmont, California, a school for inclusion children with dyslexia, providing support to families of children with disabilities and complex medical needs.

She received her Associate of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from Texas Southern University, graduating with honors. She is currently working on her Master of Science in Public Administration. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
